Adapt & Move Forward

Adapt

…to change something so it becomes suitable for a new use, purpose, or situation, or to adjust yourself to new conditions.

Since 2021, I’ve grown to despise digital photography. It just doesn’t provide the same satisfaction as film. The process just isn’t fulfilling.

Fast forward to know, I’ve realized I can embrace both for what they bring to me. As we speak, I’m awaiting delivery on a Sony A7R III with a 16-35 & 24-105 f4. Reasons? To start new. To use it as a foundation to build a business. Why? In our modern age, I don’t think you can run a photography business solely off film. What I do believe is film can complement the digital, especially in portraits.

Being in both forms allows a release on a personal and professional front. Film for me, digital for others.

I’m not new to Sony. I choose Sony again due to lens availability and auto focus reliability. Admittedly, I wanted to go Canon…specifically a R3. Unfortunately, given the situation, Sony was the best way to go.

Another avenue this opens for me is camera scanning. I’ve never been particularly pleased with my flatbed scans. I’m hoping this will expand my abilities if the film realm as well as digital.

Another part of adapting, the weather. If you’re in Western PA right now, you know what I’m talking about. To work on my photography, I have the 2 best models I can ask for. That said, the Canon 30D & Sony NEX 6 I picked up cheap, have been fun cameras to mess around with. Each providing their own learning curve. It’s been a stress reliever.
